Getting to know Christopher Walker

Hi, I’m Chris, a therapist at Acceptance Path Counseling. I work with children and adults who are functional on paper, but feel worn out inside—stressed, stuck, and tired of carrying it all alone. Many clients come in saying, “I’ve tried everything and nothing sticks.” If that’s you, I won’t waste your time with vague advice or endless talking that doesn’t lead anywhere. My style is grounded, practical, and collaborative. We’ll look at what’s keeping you locked in the same loops—overthinking, anxiety, avoidance, people-pleasing, shutdown, procrastination—and build real tools to respond differently. The goal isn’t to erase discomfort. It’s to help you handle it better so you can move forward and build a life that actually feels like yours.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect me to be steady, direct, and supportive. I’ll meet you with respect, and I’ll also help you get honest about what isn’t working—without shame. I’m not interested in perfect answers or “positive thinking.” I’m interested in what helps you function better in the real world: relationships, work, confidence, boundaries, and the choices you make when life is hard. Sessions are a mix of understanding what’s going on and practicing what to do instead. I’ll help you slow down the mental noise, build emotional flexibility, and take action even when you don’t feel ready. If you want therapy that’s compassionate but not fluffy, you’ll probably feel at home here.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first session, we’ll clarify what’s bringing you in, what you’ve tried, and what you want to be different in everyday life. We’ll also identify the patterns that show up in the hardest moments—when you spiral, shut down, snap, overwork, or avoid. After that, sessions usually follow a clear structure: - quick check-in on what’s been happening - identify the pattern showing up right now - practice a tool or new approach in-session - pick a small, realistic step to try between sessions I keep between-session work simple and doable. The point is progress you can actually maintain, not a temporary boost. Over time, we’ll shift from “putting out fires” to building a more stable, meaningful life—even when stress and anxiety still show up.
