What should a new client know about working with you?

I am currently accepting new clients for court-mandated therapy. With over 20 years in trauma and family therapy, I oversee a group practice of 10 skilled professionals, each with specialties to support your family's needs. Under my guidance, our team is here to help you or your loved ones on a path to healing. Consider working with one of our trained therapists for personalized care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Week 1: Intake Session We start with a thorough intake where I’ll review your history, concerns, and goals. This helps create a personalized treatment plan. You’ll leave with initial steps or homework to reflect on before our next session. Weeks 2-12: Weekly Sessions You’ll meet with your therapist once a week for a 50-minute individual session. During these sessions, we’ll discuss your progress, challenges, and new strategies based on your goals. Each session includes personalized homework to practice new skills outside of therapy. Family Systems & IFS For family or couples therapy, we often use Family Systems Therapy, which looks at how family dynamics impact mental health. Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps you explore different parts of yourself to improve emotional balance. Some clients have a mix of individual and family sessions. Psychiatric Diagnostic Process As a psychiatrist, I assess whether medication is needed in addition to therapy. I’ll perform a diagnostic evaluation, explain the diagnosis, and propose treatment, which might include medication, therapy, or both. If medication is prescribed, follow-ups will help track progress and make adjustments. What a Typical Session Looks Like We begin each session with a check-in on your week, review previous homework, and focus on specific goals or issues. Sessions may include different therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or IFS. We’ll wrap up by setting new goals or steps to work on before the next session.
