Cindy Kang, MA

Psychotherapist
HI
Hi there, I'm Cindy! Aloha, I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in Hawaii. I’m based in Oahu and work via telehealth with clients from all islands. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and relational problems and work with individual adults and couples. I also have experience working with the transgender community and providing support through your journey. My approach My approach involves utilizing a Person-Centered Therapy framework to provide a nonjudgmental and compassionate space where you are heard, validated, and reminded of your strengths to help you process emotional issues, be supported in self-discovery, and collaborate with you to build skills and tools that align with the way you move through your life. I most frequently use Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/Tapping and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with an emphasis on Mindfulness, as these modalities support emotional regulation and stress reduction, allowing for freedom from cycles that keep you stuck. I also draw from other therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and family systems approaches. My focus My approach and style lend itself well to individual adults and couples whose childhood/generational trauma, abuse, or stress have led to difficulties (e.g. infidelity, people pleasing behaviors, boundary issues, blaming/shaming patterns) in relationships of any type (incl. with your partner, friend, boss), depressive/anxious/trauma symptoms (e.g. being reactive or angry, having a sense of low self-worth, engaging in self-destructive behaviors) or challenges with life transitions (e.g. loss, divorce, getting your first job, finishing school, opening up to polyamory).
