Cindy Martinez, LCSW

Cindy Martinez, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I initially started working with adoptive parents and birth parents when I graduated with my bachelor's degree. I quickly realized that I needed to pursue higher education to better help my clients. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. From there, I was exposed to underserved communities and clients experiencing high-risk situations. I've worked as a case manager for seven years, and I've also worked at an inpatient hospital providing group therapy. For the past six years, I've provided virtual therapy for clients aged 13 and up. Because I've worked with so many different populations, I've become a better clinician by staying open-minded and curious. This experience has also shaped me to be more empathetic and prepared to help clients experiencing a range of issues. I primarily see clients for mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, and life transitions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use humor in sessions but also hold a safe space and silence when when needed. My goal is to build a trusting and strong therapeutic relationship so that you’re comfortable as possible during the challenges of therapy. I have also been told by many of my clients that sessions with me feel natural and safe. You can expect to learn more about yourself to help achieve your goals in therapy and even look forward to our next session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I outline sessions starting with “check in’s”, we then prioritize what you would like to achieve in therapy, and end with talking about self-care and summarizing our sessions in preparation for the next session. I do frequent “check in’s” to ensure that you feel you are receiving what you need out of services. If you are unsure about your goals in therapy, that is something that we can explore together to identify and figure out what therapy can look like for you.
