Cindy Olvera, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Welcome to The Blooming Story Counseling & Wellness. I’m Cindy Olvera, LPC, a trauma-focused psychotherapist providing virtual therapy to adults and couples across Texas. I work especially well with thoughtful, high-functioning adults who may appear capable on the outside while privately carrying anxiety, emotional exhaustion, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relationship stress, unresolved trauma, or patterns they are ready to understand and change. My clinical approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based, with person-centered care serving as the foundation of my work. From there, I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Solution-Focused Therapy, and polyvagal-informed nervous-system work based on each client’s needs and treatment goals. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely understood, supported, thoughtfully challenged when appropriate, and empowered to grow at a pace that feels both meaningful and sustainable. I believe meaningful healing often begins when we feel genuinely heard and seen. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of your story, understand how past experiences may be shaping the present, and build practical tools for the life and relationships you want now. It is an honor to be trusted with someone’s story. My role is not to tell you who to become, but to help you understand yourself more deeply, strengthen what is already within you, and create space for your story to continue unfolding in a way that feels more grounded, connected, and fully your own.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a collaborative, active, and deeply human process. I bring warmth, empathy, thoughtful curiosity, and practical tools into the work while helping you look beneath the surface and make sense of the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and responses. My role is not simply to listen, but to help you connect the dots, deepen self-awareness, and understand both what you are experiencing and why certain patterns may continue to show up in your life. At the same time, I do not believe therapy should feel rushed, performative, or one-size-fits-all. You do not need to arrive with the “right” words or have everything figured out. My goal is for our work to become a safe place to land—somewhere you can feel heard, seen, challenged with care when appropriate, and supported as you grow. Clients often come to me wanting relief from anxiety, trauma-related patterns, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, relationship concerns, low confidence, or difficulty setting boundaries. We may work on nervous-system regulation, emotional awareness, assertive communication, attachment patterns, self-trust, self-esteem, and practical coping skills while also addressing deeper experiences that may be keeping you stuck. I value insight, but I also want therapy to translate into meaningful change outside the session. We will regularly check in about what is helping, what is not, and what you want more of. Your goals, pace, preferences, and lived experience matter throughout the process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin by getting to know you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis or list of symptoms. In our first sessions, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, what feels most difficult right now, important life and relationship experiences, current stressors, strengths, supports, and what you would like to feel or do differently. From there, we develop a treatment plan together. I often begin with stabilization, psychoeducation, and practical skills so you have tools for emotional regulation, nervous-system awareness, boundaries, communication, and coping while we continue building trust and understanding your patterns. As therapy progresses, I tailor the approach to your needs. For trauma-related concerns, EMDR may become part of treatment when there is adequate readiness and stability. CBT or trauma-focused CBT interventions may help us examine beliefs, thought patterns, avoidance, and behaviors that reinforce distress. ERP may be used when obsessive-compulsive symptoms are present and clinically appropriate. I may also incorporate solution-focused work, attachment-informed exploration, and polyvagal-informed strategies for understanding and regulating nervous-system responses. For couples, I focus on communication, emotional regulation, conflict patterns, attachment needs, boundaries, repair, and strengthening connection. Throughout treatment, we will revisit your goals, track what is changing, and adjust the work as needed. I want therapy to feel structured enough to create momentum, but flexible enough to honor your story, your pace, and what matters most to you.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $120 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $100-110 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

I strive to make the payment process as simple and transparent as possible. I currently accept select insurance plans, and coverage may vary depending on your individual benefits. For insurance clients, I use **Headway** to help verify insurance eligibility and benefits and to manage insurance billing. Please verify your insurance information prior to your appointment, as deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and eligibility are determined by your insurance provider. For clients choosing to pay privately or use out-of-network benefits, I accept major credit cards and debit cards using a secure, HIPAA-compliant payment system. Upon request, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that reimbursement amounts vary by plan and are not guaranteed. My standard private-pay rate is **$120 per session**, and a limited number of reduced-fee appointments may be available, based on availability.
