Getting to know Cinnamon Johnson

I OFFER FREE 15-MINUTE CONSULTATIONS PRIOR TO COMMITTING TO AN APPOINTMENT*** I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College and a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge. I support creative women throughout California who are navigating anxiety, childhood trauma, and imposter syndrome. I believe my job is to help you release old patterns and form new ones so you can live the life you truly want. I will help you work through the childhood experiences that make it difficult to move forward in your day-to-day life. My goal as your therapist is to help you examine the thought patterns that are preventing you from fully embracing your creative potential. My clients have told me that I’m an approachable therapist, and I prefer it this way so you can feel as comfortable and anxiety-free as possible, allowing you to get the most success out of therapy. You want to be more comfortable with your authentic self. I want to help you get there. Schedule an appointment today, and I will reach out to you for a 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My Methods: Psychodynamic The kind of work I do is geared towards more long-standing patterns and getting to the root of change. There is a reason for these patterns of behavior that may be out of your awareness. Together we will look at how those unconscious behaviors are showing up in your work and relationships. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a collaborative therapy that teaches you how to change the way you think by understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and behavior influence each other. As an active collaborator, trainer, and educator, I assist you in changing dysfunctional thought patterns that are no longer serving you in your relationships and at work. EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) has been known to treat trauma & PTSD. I utilize EMDR to not only treat PTSD, but also self-esteem issues and anxiety by helping clients look at difficult life experiences in a way that encourages personal growth and recovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You want someone who can listen and understand your experiences. Not everyone works with creatives like I do. I take my training as a mental health therapist and lived experiences as a creative and help you find the clarity that you need in your life. You can be authentically yourself and get the self-assurance that you’re looking for in our sessions together. It is my goal to provide you with a warm, open, empathic, and supportive therapy environment where you can feel comfortable to express your emotions and be yourself.

I have been seeing Cinnamon for 8 months. She is a great therapist. Some therapists I've seen before forget why I am seeing them, but this doesn't happen with Cinnamon. She remembers who I am and the issues that I discussed in previous sessions. It's easy to jump right in and get to work. I would highly recommend Cinnamon.
