“Friendly staff, but do know that you will not get the date or this therapist that you picked. They will reschedule your ZocDoc appointment to a few weeks later for an “intake” appointment, and then assign you a random therapist. The entire process was very kind and easy however, so I did not mind this. You might, however, if this is the therapist you really want.”

Getting to know Claire Lawler

Hi, I'm Claire, and clients tell me they value how accepting our sessions feel. That’s because I bring equal parts head and heart into the room. I have strong clinical training but balance that with a warmth that lets people relax enough to be honest. I'll challenge you in ways you might not expect, like questioning a thought pattern you've accepted as truth or examining a behavior you've never looked at closely. I find moments of laughter in sessions, because connection happens just as much in the light moments as it does in the difficult ones. Curiosity drives how I work and I want you to develop that same curiosity about yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with teens and adults navigating ADHD, executive functioning challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. With substance use I take a harm reduction approach because recovery looks different for every person. I pull from different modalities and adjust until we find what works for you because an intervention you won't use doesn’t help.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A client who was nervous about our work ending was surprised to feel hopeful and confident about continuing on their own. That's what I work toward. I don't want you to need me forever. I want you to leave with tools you'll use long after our sessions end. If you're thinking about starting, the hardest part is already behind you.
