“I would also check direct, authentic, intelligent, and humorous if I was given options. Claire has such a warm approach while also being able to explain what is happening logically through a variety of modalities. I find her both empowering both through her kindess, practicality as she works with me to find ways through trauma and current difficulties.”

Getting to know Claire Pichel

Hi! My name is Claire Pichel and I am happy you are here. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for support and start looking for a therapist, and I respect that. My experience includes working with a wide range of clients, including those who suffer from anxiety, grief and loss, and chronic health issues, as well as mothers who are facing postpartum depression or pregnancy loss. My time as a medical social worker and as an individual therapist have helped me develop deep empathy and respect for my clients’ specific challenges. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, grief and loss, and I have an MA in Somatic Psychology. I am a certified anxiety and tele-mental health practitioner, and have specialized education and experience in cardiac health. Currently, I am pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health to better serve and support all mothers and I am a certified Fair Play Facilitator. My approach to therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client, one based on mutual respect and done in the spirit of curiosity and compassion. I utilize a combination of what we call "top down" and "bottom up" approaches, meaning I work with both your mind and your body to address issues and challenges you might be facing. In between sessions I often assign homework in the form of exercises and reading. But most importantly, I do my best to create a safe and empathetic place where you feel seen, heard and valued.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, I will take a thorough history so I can have a firm understanding of your needs. We will then establish your goals for treatment and co-create a plan for you to meet those goals. We will review the plan every 6 sessions or so, to see if we need to make adjustments to the plan. In our work, you can expect to increase your psychological flexibility, and uncover your strengths, while finding relief and increased tolerance for your difficult days. We all have them!
