Psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Clarissa. Are you seeking to find greater levels of self-worth, harmonious relationships with others, and life-affirming purpose? Let’s work together to discover personal blocks and move towards your highest goals. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with an MA in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Northern Colorado. My approach to therapy is integrative and tailored to your unique needs, drawing from Mindfulness-Based Counseling, Somatic/Body Approaches, Emotion Focused Therapy, Spiritual and Transpersonal Counseling, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt, and Narrative Therapy. What matters most to me is finding an approach that works for you. I have extensive experience working with Veterans at a local Vet Center and the general adult population who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of meaning and fulfillment, nonordinary states of consciousness, and difficult interpersonal relationships. My specialties include family relationships, grief and bereavement, life transitions, military and veteran support, multicultural and diversity issues, phobias, PTSD, intimate and romantic relationships, spirituality, stress, trauma, anxiety, and anger management. I became a counselor to help others discover their inner wholeness and wisdom that have always existed within. As someone who is dedicated to lifelong learning and growth, it is deeply meaningful to witness and support that in others. In addition to being a counselor, I am a meditation instructor, professor in a counseling department, and researcher, and these parts of my life have undeniably enriched my counseling practice. My own personal experience of counseling has provided me expansive growth and well-being, and it's a true honor to be able to work with others in this way.
