Getting to know Clarissa Cordova

Online Therapy for Individuals & Couples | Bilingual Therapist (English & Spanish) Taking the first step toward therapy takes real courage — and I want you to know you've come to the right place. As a Associat Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), I specialize in helping individuals and couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships and navigate life's most difficult moments with support, clarity, and compassion. My practice is a judgment-free space where your story, your identity, and your experiences are fully seen and honored. Who I Work With I have a deep commitment to serving individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds — especially those from Latinx/e, BIPOC, first-generation, and multicultural communities who may have felt unseen or underserved by traditional mental health care. You deserve high-quality therapy that reflects your lived experience. I work best with clients facing: Relationship & couples issues — communication breakdowns, trust repair, intimacy, conflict resolution Latinx/e minority stress — navigating cultural identity, family pressure, and systemic stress Trauma & anxiety — processing past wounds and building day-to-day resilience Life transitions — career changes, family shifts, identity exploration, major decisions Women's issues — self-worth, burnout, boundaries, and life-stage challenges BIPOC-specific stressors — racial trauma, microaggressions, cultural identity Biracial & multicultural relationships — navigating different cultural backgrounds as a couple or individual Bilingual Therapy in English & Spanish Language should never be a barrier to healing. I offer therapy sessions in both English and Spanish, and you're welcome to move between both as feels natural. Many of my clients find that being able to speak in their first language brings a deeper level of comfort and authenticity to the therapeutic process.

What should a new client know about working with you?

How do I help you reach your goals? In our sessions, we'll work together to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that may be holding you back. We'll focus on developing coping skills and strategies to manage symptoms and improve your overall well-being. Your cultural identity is an essential part of who you are, and I'm dedicated to respecting and honoring that. Together, we'll explore how your cultural background influences your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and develop strategies that are tailored to your unique needs. Trauma can be complex and deeply personal. We'll work together to develop coping strategies and techniques to manage symptoms and improve your overall well-being. I'll prioritize your comfort and safety throughout our work together. In our therapy sessions, we'll draw on the principles of CBT to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. We'll also prioritize cultural sensitivity, recognizing the importance of your cultural background and experiences in shaping your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Finally, we'll take a trauma-informed approach, emphasizing safety, trust, and empowerment throughout our work together. Clarissa Cordova is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. What is your typical process for working with clients?

What can I expect in a first session? During the first session, I will cover the practice policies and go over your intake questionnaires to ensure we have a good grasp for establishing treatment goals. The first session will be used to gather more information about yourself (or your relationship with your partner), your relationship with the problem at hand, and establishing clearly defined goals for treatment, as well as establish therapeutic rapport to ensure a comfortable space for your continued growth in treatment.
