Getting to know Claudia Barbieri

As a therapist, I am passionate about assisting clients more effectively manage issues involving substance abuse, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ matters, PMDD, religious trauma, anxiety, and depression. My approach is flexible and responsive, meeting you in your present circumstance and exploring the deeper issues that may lie beneath the surface. I frequently use cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy because they allow for the exploration of thought patterns and encourage mindfulness techniques that increase one's ability to self-regulate. I also appreciate bringing in additional creative and dynamic approaches when the situation calls for it. I personally know what it's like to question one's current reality and go through difficult transformations as my path to becoming a therapist was not direct. I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. After college, I pivoted into the world of tech sales but still felt something was missing. Although I did not pursue that path further, those experiences were incredibly valuable and led me to a profound realization: my true passion lies in mental health and helping people. I believe that there is a lesson to be learned in every situation. By permitting the opportunity for one to reflect on their experiences with curiosity instead of judgment or shame, we open the door to unending possibilities. I now hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and consider it the highest privilege to be helping others as a profession.
