What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and life transitions. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I meet clients where they are and guide them toward greater insight, self-compassion, and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we first meet, the intake session is a little different from ongoing sessions. It usually lasts about 60–90 minutes. During this time, I will gather information about your current concerns, symptoms, personal history, medical and mental health background, relationships, and any previous treatment experiences. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether you feel comfortable moving forward. After the intake, typical sessions last about 50–60 minutes. We usually begin with a brief check-in about how you’ve been feeling since our last session, including any significant events, stressors, or progress you’ve noticed. From there, we focus on what feels most important to you that day. Sometimes that may involve processing emotions, discussing relationship dynamics, or exploring patterns in thoughts and behaviors. Other times, we may work on specific skills—such as coping strategies for anxiety, mood regulation, communication skills, or distress tolerance techniques. I may ask reflective questions, provide feedback, and occasionally introduce exercises or structured interventions to help deepen insight and build practical tools. If helpful, we’ll also set small, realistic goals to work on between sessions. Each session is collaborative. You are encouraged to share openly, ask questions, and let me know if something feels particularly helpful—or not helpful. The pace and focus are guided by your needs and treatment goals. Over time, sessions build on one another, helping you develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and confidence in managing challenges.
