Hi, my name is Clint and I am a clinical social worker. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, cognitive science from the University of California, Irvine. My master's degree is in social work with an emphasis in mental health from the University of Utah. My experience includes several years in the social services field including working with youth, addiction recovery, and private practice counseling. I view therapy work from an attachment based perspective and try to help clients find their own healing by reprocessing past emotional bruises or traumas and improving current thinking patterns. I use a framework of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), and accelerated resolution therapy (ART) in order to help clients heal and find meaning in life. My life experiences include being a husband and father, spent time in the military, grew up in Southern California, and played lots of sports. I currently enjoy golfing, games with friends, barbequing, audiobooks, and figuring out how to DIY projects around the house.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a more helpful relationship with thoughts and emotions. This allows them to experience thoughts and emotions without being controlled by them. We work on turning unhelpful thoughts into healthy committed action through the acceptance paradox. We work on identifying and clarifying the values in life that give them purpose and we develop mindfulness exercises in order to help clients improve their psychological flexibility. For deeper traumas, emotional bruises, and attachment injuries I use an approach called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This helps client to reprocess painful experiences and give them a greater sense of control over how they respond to those past hurts and traumas instead of being controlled by them. In couples work, I use a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) and the Gottman Method. I help my couples learn how to “talk below the line” by focusing on internal thoughts and feelings instead of external behaviors. This results in greater connection and the ability to be present and engaged for each other instead of defensive and protective. The Gottman Method give helpful tools to help clients find the right words and the right delivery so they can respond to their partner in an encouraging way, instead of dismissive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and focused on helping you build a life aligned with what matters most to you. Rather than following a rigid agenda, we work together to explore both immediate challenges and the deeper patterns shaping your life, always moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable. A core component of our work involves understanding the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help you develop a healthier relationship with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings rather than trying to eliminate them. Through mindfulness, self-compassion, and value identification, you’ll learn to make room for difficult emotions without letting them dictate your choices or define your identity. We will also look at how past experiences—particularly early relationships, rejection, loss, abandonment, or unmet emotional needs—continue to impact your present. The coping strategies that once protected you can sometimes become the very patterns keeping you stuck, such as fears of rejection, people-pleasing, withdrawal, or struggles with trust and vulnerability. Together, we examine these emotional wounds not to dwell on the past, but to understand how they show up today and to heal deeply held beliefs about your self-worth. Therapy with me balances practical tools you can use immediately with deeper reflection and processing. I place a strong emphasis on emotional safety and trust, ensuring you are never pressured to revisit painful memories before you are ready. Ultimately, therapy is a process of healing, growth, and self-discovery. Beyond simply managing symptoms, my goal is to help you cultivate emotional flexibility, develop meaningful relationships, respond to life's challenges with freedom, and build a greater sense of peace, connection, and purpose.
