Clover McKinney, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
Hello! My name is Clover, and I am a licensed clinical therapist and addiction specialist in North Carolina. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Appalachian State University. I look forward to the opportunity to learn and work together as part of our therapeutic process. I enjoy working with folks who are gender diverse and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who experience unique stressors and conflicts in their day-to-day lives. I also love working with individuals struggling with substance use, whether alongside other life stressors or on its own, especially given the high stigma surrounding substance use disorders. My approach to substance use treatment focuses on functionality, helping set reasonable goals and expectations throughout the clinical process. I began my clinical work specializing in addiction and have grown as a therapist and person to see people from a whole-person perspective. Our difficulties, conflicts, and stressors do not define who we are, and when they prevent or delay us from becoming our authentic selves, that is where the therapeutic process truly blossoms. I believe everyone is always growing into their best selves, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you along this journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As we begin to work together the first step is getting to know each other and what to expect from our work together. I approach the assessment process as a fluid experience of learning who you are and what you wish to achieve as we work on establishing goals. I approach ongoing sessions continually assessing for change and opportunities for growth and intervention utilizing skills from a cognitive behavioral, dialetical behavioral, existential, and motivational skill sets.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
