Psychotherapist
851 N Main St, Cache, UT
Hey, I'm Cody! If you, like many people, are tired of the quick-fixes that often come from conventional care that only address symptoms, I may be your next therapist! I am one of just a handful of therapists across the country who also has training in clinical nutrition. No, that doesn't mean I just treat eating disorders (a common assumption). Instead, it's about utilizing food as medicine to support brain function, in general. That means depression, anxiety, ADHD, sleep problems, and other common problems that we clinicians call "organic mental disorders." These are typically present when you don't feel like you have much or any trauma, but you're still feeling unwell. Most therapists would jump to the conclusion that you just need medication for the rest of your life, but what if your mental illness can actually be treated with diet and lifestyle? You might be wondering how and why I came to do this. After all, most people don't really see the connection between food and mental health (even most therapists and doctors have no idea). But I actually have personal experience with it! By eating whole foods and practicing healthy habits like proper sleep, yoga, meditation, and others, I was able to improve my own mental health without medication. So now, I help others do the same. I start everyone out pretty slow, but I do hope you'll be willing to make small changes (like drinking more water, or eating more protein). And if nutrition really isn't something you want to do, I also do mindfulness-based therapies, EMDR, and EFT (tapping).
