Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including child welfare, youth residential treatment programs, alternative education for at-risk youth, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, hospital ERs and ICUs, hospice care, public high schools, and private practice. My journey has been enriched by the opportunity to provide therapy and teach parenting and social skills classes. I was honored to receive an award for 'Outstanding Work with Children and Families' during my time in child welfare, a testament to my dedication and passion for helping others. Additionally, I have held leadership positions for half of my career, supervising many interns who have gone on to become professionals in the field. I am also a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and am currently working on my Trauma and EMDR certifications. In therapy, I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Narrative techniques. I strongly believe in the power of mindfulness and the importance of self-care. I encourage my clients to incorporate these practices into their daily lives to foster healing and growth. When I'm not working, I love to travel to new places, hike, dance, craft and scrapbook, hunt for good deals while shopping, and spend quality time with my family and dogs.
