“I started working with Dr. DeJoseph in the beginning of 2023, shortly after filing for divorce. I’ve been to a couple therapists prior, but none that I felt like I was making any progress with. Tbh, she was probably the last therapist I planned to go to before I just decided therapy just wouldn’t work for me. Going through a divorce, trying to navigate new life as a single mom, wasn’t easy. Not only was Colleen easy to talk to, she helped to put a lot of things into perspective for me when I wasn’t able to do it myself. Things I didn’t understand, started to make sense. Light bulbs.. they finally went off. I owe a lot of my mental growth to her and I am proud of who I am and where I am today because of the work she has done with me.”

Getting to know Dr. Colleen DeJoseph

Sometimes we're faced with really difficult life circumstances. Sometimes we may be in need of significant healing from our past that is affecting our present. Sometimes we may just need someone to help us process complicated emotions. Other times, we may need assistance in cultivating greater self-awareness and self-compassion-and all of the time, having someone to accompany us on that journey makes it a lot more manageable. I hold a firm foundational perspective that wholeness and optimal health are every human's birthright. I utilize a trauma-informed approach in my psychotherapy work, creating safety through empathy, compassion, laughter, and unconditional positive regard within the therapeutic relationship. I have a passion for helping people disrupt maladaptive patterns that may be impeding their evolution. Using a lens that considers how social and cultural constructs, along with familial structures, affect and inform our relationships-with ourselves, with others, and with the world-I compassionately support clients in integrating the more challenging aspects of their life experiences. In doing so, I help remove the obstacles that may be standing in the way of their well-being and life satisfaction. I earned both my PhD in Transpersonal Psychology and my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Sofia University, which have deeply informed my holistic and compassionate approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I possess a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology at Sofia University in Palo Alto, California. My professional experience spans community mental health, school-based settings, and foster care. I also have extensive experience working with the neurodivergent population.
