Colleen Gallagher, LCSW, is a Couples and Individual Psychotherapist with expertise in stress reduction, anxiety, mindfulness, relationships, EMDR, somatic approaches, MBCT for depression, DBT, social-emotional skills, habits and patterns, and communication. Her goal is to help clients understand and diminish troublesome thoughts and behaviors, strengthen emotional-relational well-being, promote self-awareness, and foster interpersonal and emotional skills. She specializes in working with adults, couples, families, relational difficulties, habit change, mindful communication, and self-esteem—helping to restore a sense of ease, belonging, and connection. Colleen is an EMDR Therapist (EMDIRA) and an accredited MBSR teacher (UMass Medical School, CFM). Her approach is rooted in the belief that we have an innate capacity for wellness, resiliency, healing in relationships, and finding ease. Colleen is an experienced, highly trained clinician who incorporates trauma-informed and mindfulness-based approaches with traditional psychotherapy, mind-body medicine, expressive arts, positive psychology, current neuroscience, mindful technology, habit and pattern work, mindful communication, social mindfulness, conflict resolution, and tools for emotional intelligence and embodied awareness. She draws on her former career as an art teacher and professional performing artist when helpful. Colleen looks forward to building your trust as a caring listener and supporting your journey toward greater well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often say that they appreciate my down-to earth nature, calm accepting way and humor/hope. My approach toward treatment is to help you understand and diminish troublesome thoughts and behaviors. And to promote self-awareness to foster interpersonal & emotional skills. The process of our therapeutic sessions become experiential growth opportunities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start right where you are, and tailor both traditional psychotherapy and integrative psychotherapy approaches. Drawing on: cognitive, behavioral, and mind-body approaches to fit your unique needs.
