Getting to know Colleen Griffin

Hello! I am a member and co-owner of Polaris Counseling and Wellness, LLC. As a therapist, I find it important to look at all aspects of your health and wellbeing. This includes exploration and identification of holistic treatment approaches. Now - don't get me wrong - best practice modalities of talk therapy will be explored - but during our time together it is equally important to explore alternative means and methods to assist you in your individual recovery goals as you see fit. Many collaborative treatments, looking at whole health well being, impact our mental health so its important to explore all aspects of health and well-being to better our mental health. I have experience in a range of evidence based practices to treat both general mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. This includes, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and use of Biofeedback treatment. I am also uniquely trained in issues and treatment surrounding our first responders and military/veteran populations. Prior to Polaris Counseling and Wellness, I was employed by the VA Medical Center in various positions over the last decade. most recently to include admissions coordinator and program manager of their substance treatment and recovery programs. I have a unique and detailed understanding of the problems and recovery challenges within our Veteran population and can assist in navigating the treatment between both Community and VA system.
