Colleen Keller, LCSW

Colleen Keller, LCSW

Psychotherapist
PA
Hi! I specialize in working with women who are high-achieving but struggling with self-confidence and anxiety as they strive to feel good enough. I help clients address issues like perfectionism and people-pleasing behaviors by using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use CBT to treat depression and anxiety through identifying key cognitive distortions and helping clients become more aware of negative thoughts and self-limiting beliefs. ACT is also effective for treating anxiety and perfectionism by showing clients how to develop self-compassion and self-acceptance. I also assess and treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). When treating clients with OCD, I integrate both Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and CBT. I work with clients on learning how to better tolerate the anxiety caused by the obsessions without resorting to compulsive behaviors. I also work with couples who are trying to improve communication and strengthen their emotional and physical connection. Using both the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I help couples who are having difficulties prioritizing their relationship while managing the demands of careers, parenting, and family obligations.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I named my practice Choosing Yourself Counseling because of my experience working with so many clients who struggle to choose what is in their best interest because of negative and self-limiting beliefs, expectations of others, and external demands. I love to help clients explore what is holding them back and then challenge and empower them to make choices that align with their best interests, their values, and their goals. Nothing is more rewarding to me as a therapist than to see clients reach for what they previously thought was unreachable because they’ve done the work and now know what was true all along - that they are worthy and deserving of achieving their dreams.
