Have you gone through a challenging time and found yourself still returning to it in your mind, though the challenge has passed? Perhaps it is not your mind, but your body, that holds onto the stress. Body stress can show up as trouble sleeping, unexplained tension or strain, difficulty relaxing, difficulty mobilizing energy for things we need to do, or feeling the need to always be moving or working on something. Our bodies are amazingly creative in the ways they try to mitigate stress. Sometimes when that process is unconscious though, those stress relieving strategies can work against us.

Getting to know Colleen (Mica) Grant

Have you gone through a challenging time and found yourself still returning to it in your mind, though the challenge has passed? Perhaps it is not your mind, but your body, that holds onto the stress. Body stress can show up as trouble sleeping, unexplained tension or strain, difficulty relaxing, difficulty mobilizing energy for things we need to do, or feeling the need to always be moving or working on something. What should a new client know about working with you?

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I am trained to help you explore what your body and mind are holding onto and help you complete and release these experiences. It takes a lot of energy to hold onto stress. Though we may wish to release it, this can be tough to accomplish without the right support. However, once we make the space to listen to our unmet needs and allow past experiences to unfold, we can free up that energy for other purposes.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, you can expect a calm and comforting space where we will map out your goals and begin addressing your concerns from day one. Once we make a treatment plan, each session will unfold organically. You will bring your concerns and I will help you move through them in a way that brings you closer to your goals. It would be an honor to explore this work with you!
