Hi, I'm Connie! Do you ever feel like you're cosplaying as a "functional adult" while everything underneath feels a little chaotic? Maybe you're great at showing up, getting things done, and keeping it together on the outside, but internally you're overwhelmed, second-guessing yourself, or wondering why being a human is so complicated. I'm an Associate Professional Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, neurodivergence-related challenges, trauma, relationship difficulties, and identity exploration. I also work with couples looking to strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and feel more connected. My approach is warm, collaborative, direct, and grounded in practical skills. I draw primarily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based approaches. Together, we'll build tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, boundaries, communication, and navigating life's inevitable messiness. I also bring a culturally responsive, LGBTQ+-affirming perspective to therapy and especially enjoy supporting first- and second-generation immigrants, neurodivergent individuals, and people exploring identity, belonging, and relationships. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your full, authentic self. I'll bring curiosity, compassion, transparency, and humor when the moment calls for it. You can expect me to explain why we're trying something, welcome your feedback, and celebrate the small wins along the way. My goal isn't to change who you are or tell you how you should feel. It's to help you better understand yourself, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical skills to create a life and relationships that feel more manageable, meaningful, and connected.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't have to arrive at therapy knowing exactly what's wrong, what you need, or how to explain what you're feeling. Sometimes just getting through the week is enough of a starting point! Our first sessions will focus on getting to know you, understanding what you're experiencing, and identifying what you'd like to feel different in your life or relationships. I value transparency and collaboration, so you're always welcome to ask questions, share concerns, or let me know when something doesn't feel helpful. Therapy isn't about getting everything "right." It's about creating a space where we can figure things out together, one step at a time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach balances practical coping skills with a deeper understanding of your experiences, relationships, and personal history. We'll begin by exploring what's bringing you to therapy, the patterns you've noticed, and what meaningful change might look like for you. Together, we'll identify goals and develop an approach that fits your needs, strengths, and circumstances. I often incorporate DBT-informed skills to help with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. We may practice navigating overwhelming emotions, setting boundaries, communicating needs, or responding differently to stressful situations. I also believe your experiences exist within a larger context. We'll consider how family dynamics, culture, identity, relationships, and life experiences shape the ways you navigate the world. You can expect a collaborative, strengths-based process that makes room for both meaningful reflection and practical change. And yes, there's room for humor along the way!
