Getting to know Coresair Mack

Hello everyone, my name is Coresair Mack. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor here in the state of Illinois. I attended Northern Illinois University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I earned my bachelor's degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. I also graduated with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis and certificate in crisis and trauma work. My therapeutic style is eclectic, but I mainly use both Trauma-Focused CBT and Solution-Focused CBT to help clients. After many years of experience, I have learned and understood that anything can be a crisis or traumatic event. With that in mind, I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to tell their truth, process the crisis or traumatic event that happened to them, heal, build resilience, and overall get their life back on track with their new normal through goal setting and providing tools that can be used in their everyday life. I also believe that therapy should not last forever. The coping and wellness skills I teach clients help build autonomy to hopefully reach the point where long-term therapy isn’t needed.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I don't believe that client's should be in therapy forever. I help clients process through their negative experiences, traumas and anything else that clients need help with. I also help teach coping skills and techniques to help clients develop autonomy and independence with their mental health. This way, clients will be able process and use coping skills on their own so that they won't need to come back and see me. I always do my best to work myself out of a job.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After contacting me, I give the client an option to do an initial consultation. After that I send the paperwork straight to the client's email. That way they can fill it out and sign the paperwork online. I also verify insurances for the client to let them know, if I am in network or out of network. After that I go over the pricing again that is in the paperwork to let the client know the cost upfront if they are not using insurance. The initial assessment, if using insurance, we do the mental health assessment and treatment plan. This is done, so that way the claim can be sent to insurance. If the client isn't using insurance or after the initial assessment, we go straight to therapy.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $160 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $130 for 60 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

The $160 for the initial appointment, is if you are using insurance. Insurance needs a mental health diagnosis and treatment plan to submit a claim. So the $160 is for the mental health assessment and treatment plan. Note that you won't get charged until the claim comes back from the insurance company. This also goes for individual sessions ($130) and couples sessions ($140). If you decide to not use insurance it'll be the $130 for the initial and $140 for couples, since we aren't doing a mental health assessment and treatment plan. If you have insurance, you won't qualify for the sliding scale price. If you have Medicaid insurance, which I don't take, or make under $40,000 a year, then you qualify for the sliding scale price. That price is $60 an hour or $30 for a half hour.

Working with my psychotherapist Coresair has been a truly transformative experience. As a black man, I felt empowered and heard in a way that I hadn't before in therapy. Coresair offered a unique blend of challenge and support that helped me find my voice and navigate the complexities of life. His guidance has been instrumental in improving my relationship with my partner and establishing healthy boundaries. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Coresair and highly recommend him to anyone seeking growth and healing.
I saw Coresair from January till September 2022. I was going through changes in literally every part of my life and sometimes multiple changes in some of those parts. Coresair was incredibly personable and flexible with me. He was able to communicate with me the way I needed him to and also shine light on things I wasn't seeing. I moved out of state in October so I could no longer see Coresair.
