Getting to know Corretta Whyte

Hello, I'm Corretta. It is my belief that with therapeutic intervention, we can not only 'get through' obstacles in life, but master them. We can 'be better' as a result of having these experiences when we use the knowledge gained as a means to inform our decision-making and positively impact our lives and communities. We can turn mistakes into lessons when we learn from them and appropriately apply the garnered information. While I am experienced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy, I tailor therapeutic interventions individually for each client. I have worked in community mental health for over fifteen years and have experience working with individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), depression, anxiety, forensic mental health, substance abuse, sex offenders, and personality disorders. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and group therapy, along with experience working in therapeutic communities. First licensed by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board in 2004, I have been a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisor Designation (LISW-SUPV) since 2012. I obtained a Master of Social Work degree from The Ohio State University. Born and raised in the South, Georgia, I am cognizant of the impact of culture on one's experiences and perception. I believe in the inherent worth of all persons and offer a safe, compassionate therapeutic space to tackle barriers that impede progress to your identified goals. Together, we will form a partnership of acceptance, accountability, respect, and rapport whereby you seek self-actualization.
