Getting to know Courtney Clifford

I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them—whether that’s anxiety, burnout, disconnection in relationships, or a persistent sense of not feeling fully like themselves. Many of the clients I support are high-achieving and self-aware, yet find themselves overwhelmed, unfulfilled, or repeating relational dynamics they don’t fully understand. I specialize in anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relational challenges, with a focus on helping both individuals and couples build deeper, more meaningful connections. Whether you’re navigating burnout, struggling to feel confident in yourself, or wanting to strengthen your relationship, therapy offers a space to slow down and make sense of what’s underneath the surface. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and insight-oriented. I help clients explore how past experiences may be shaping current emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns, while also offering practical tools to support emotional awareness, communication, and change. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in helping you feel more connected—to yourself and to others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative and thoughtful process that balances depth with practical change. I offer a warm, supportive space while also being direct and engaged—I’ll ask meaningful questions, reflect patterns, and gently challenge you in ways that support growth. Many of the clients I work with are insightful and motivated, but feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. Together, we focus on increasing self-awareness, understanding relational dynamics, and shifting patterns that may be keeping you from feeling fulfilled or connected. For couples, this often means strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, and creating a more secure and authentic connection. For individuals, our work may focus on self-esteem, emotional clarity, and developing a stronger sense of identity and self-trust. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you create lasting, meaningful change in how you relate to yourself and the people in your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with an initial phase focused on understanding what’s bringing you to therapy, your history, and the patterns you’d like to change. We’ll clarify your goals and begin building a strong foundation of trust and emotional safety. As therapy continues, sessions become more exploratory and integrative. We’ll look at recurring emotional and relational patterns, identify underlying dynamics, and work toward new ways of responding and relating. This process includes both insight-oriented work and practical tools—such as communication strategies, emotional awareness, and boundary-setting. For couples, this may involve exploring interaction patterns, improving communication, and fostering deeper connection and understanding. For individuals, the focus may be on self-esteem, identity, and breaking cycles that contribute to anxiety, burnout, or dissatisfaction. Throughout our work, we’ll regularly reflect on your progress and adjust our focus as needed. The goal is to support you in building greater self-awareness, stronger relationships, and a more grounded, authentic sense of self that extends beyond the therapy space.
