Courtney Warren Crittendon, LCSW

Courtney Warren Crittendon, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TN
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with almost five years of experience. I earned both my Bachelor's degree and Master's in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University. I believe therapy works best relationally, meaning there needs to be a relationship of trust, confidence, and comfort between you and your therapist. My goal is to work myself out of a job by providing you with the skills, tools, and knowledge you need to become the healthier, happier version of yourself and to stay that way in the future. I want you to know that I am here to work with you as a partner on your journey, whatever that looks like to you.

Getting to know Courtney Warren Crittendon

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with almost five years of experience. I earned both my Bachelor's degree and Master's in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University. I believe therapy works best relationally, meaning there needs to be a relationship of trust, confidence, and comfort between you and your therapist. My goal is to work myself out of a job by providing you with the skills, tools, and knowledge you need to become the healthier, happier version of yourself and to stay that way in the future. I want you to know that I am here to work with you as a partner on your journey, whatever that looks like to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adolescents (ages 15-18), individauls/adults (ages 19-65+), couples and families to help work through conflicts, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD. I use a holistic and person-centered approach, which means that we go at your speed and comfort level. For our initial visit we will be getting to know each other, building rapport and trust, making sure that we are the right fit, as I believe that having the right therapist can make all the difference in the world for making progress and positive changes. I want you to leave the session feeling like you just got done talking with an old friend, but one who can give you resources, skkills and tools to help you heal and move forward. I am mother of 2 teenage daughters who I adore. I come from a blended family and found my calling for therapy while working with therapists for my own issues growing up. I have dealt with loss of family members and close friends, infidelity, divorce, later in life dating, life transitions, family conflict, sicknesses, parenting issues, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD and addiction of loved ones. I don't just have book knowledge about working with and relating to my clients; I have personal life experiences that allow me to have true empathy for the clients I get to work with. I know how important and life changing therapists have been in my life and it is a blessing and an honor for me to get the opportunity to help others in their journey to healing. I am very passionate about my calling.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A more detailed explanation of a first session would look like, going over all the policies and procedures, informed consent, (getting all the necessary legal and ethical things completed), answering any questions you may have about me or how I practice, what my methods/modalities are, learning about why you are choosing to attend therapy now and building that rapport. In the first session, I want you to leave feeling excited to start your therapy journey with me and feeling confident that you are where you belong to achieve your mental health goals. Before the first session I will send you a few assessments to fill out and send back to me so that I can look them over before we meet and know a little about where you are. This helps save some time in session as the first session can sometimes be more technical/legal than therapuetic and I like to be able to give yo uas much time to tell me about yourself as possible. Subsequent sessions will be spent getting to know more of your story so that we can figure out which modality will work best for you and get a treatment plan together that you are comfortable with.
