Craig Martin, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MN
Hi there, I'm Craig! Hi, my name is Craig Martin, LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker). I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas. I hope to help people resolve situations and find additional ideas and resources by taking control of their lives. I utilize my professional, academic, and personal experiences to assist others in gaining control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My professional goals are to empower clients while supplying compassion and dignity to their stories. My approach I often use a mixture of theoretical approaches (motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, RET, and mindfulness), but I feel the most important part of therapy is the ability to have a connection. Forming a trusting and honest connection is the most valuable part of therapy. Through this connection, I work with clients to discover “what works best for them” and empower them to move forward in their journey. My focus I have worked with a wide assortment of people, predominantly males ages 12 to 90, from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. I have experience with addictions and sobriety, trauma and abuse, anger and assertiveness, masculinity, and various forms of attachment. Helping people find their voice and story—and then learning to rewrite that story in an empowering manner—often leads to successful outcomes. My communication style I believe in developing a connection with clients. Getting in touch with emotions through tears, laughter, anger, and other expressions can help identify areas of concern and change. I try to be as honest as I can while providing clients with what they need to hear versus what they want to hear. Through my personal and professional experiences, I strive to provide compassion, dignity, empathy, and honesty in assisting people to find their direction in life.
