747 N LaSalle Dr, Ste 700, Chicago, IL
Cressie Goode is a psychotherapist who works with young adults and adults, both virtually and in person at our Lakeview and River North offices. Cressie obtained her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Cressie’s areas of clinical focus include work with individuals—especially women—who are experiencing relational conflict, family discord, childhood or more recent trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and lifestyle transitions. She also assists individuals who are exploring LGBTQIA+ identities with a rare degree of cultural awareness. In her treatment, Cressie primarily utilizes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques and attachment theory to guide treatment with her clients and is a committed believer in the healing power of relationships. She is also trained in EMDR – a research-backed modality that utilizes bilateral stimulation to help process trauma that we feel is ‘stuck’ in our brains and in our bodies. Cressie believes the key to effective and useful therapy is the strength of the relationship between client and therapist, and builds a strong rapport with clients to make sure each of them feels heard, cared for, and understood. Cressie graduated with her bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa, majoring in psychology and creative writing. Cressie believes art can be a great therapeutic tool and draws upon her own artistic educational background by introducing reading and writing exercises into her work with clients in innovative ways. In her free time, Cressie enjoys attending yoga classes, hanging out with loved ones, and visiting local restaurants. She has two cats named Freckles and Mac, who you may see pop up in your next telehealth session!
