Psychotherapist
CA
As an experienced relationship therapist, I've had the privilege of witnessing countless couples transform their relationships over the years. They've turned challenges into opportunities, differences into strengths, and communication hurdles into heart-to-heart dialogues. It is a beautiful process to see two people rediscover their connection and equip themselves with the skills to navigate future challenges with grace and understanding. I completed the Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use this method in my work. I hold a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University – Los Angeles, which has further deepened my understanding and approach to helping couples thrive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you decide to work with me, you are choosing a path towards a healthier, more fulfilling relationship. I use the Gottman Method to guide my work. The Gottman Method is a research-based approach that focuses on building a strong foundation of trust and commitment, improving communication, and fostering deeper emotional connections. One of the primary issues couples face is communication breakdown. Misunderstandings and arguments can create a rift that seems impossible to bridge. With the Gottman Method, I will help you develop effective communication skills that allow you to express your needs and feelings without triggering defensiveness or conflict. You’ll learn how to listen to your partner with empathy and understanding, turning potential arguments into constructive conversations. Lack of intimacy and emotional disconnection can also take a toll on a relationship. It’s common for couples to drift apart over time, losing the spark that once brought them together. In our sessions, we will work on rebuilding that emotional intimacy by identifying and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to disconnection. Through exercises and techniques designed to enhance closeness and affection, you’ll rediscover the joy of being in each other’s company and strengthen your emotional bond. Every relationship has its unique challenges, and my goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where both partners feel heard and valued. Together, we will explore the patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to your difficulties and develop strategies to create positive change. You’ll gain the tools and insights needed to navigate future challenges with confidence and resilience. Let's embark on a journey towards a more connected and loving relationship. You’ll learn how to turn toward each other in times of need, foster mutual respect, and build a partnership based on shared values and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process for working with clients is structured yet flexible, ensuring that each couple's unique needs are met. Here's what you can typically expect when you start working with me: 1. Initial Consultation This session allows us to get to know each other and discuss your relationship's current state. We'll explore your concerns, goals, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. It sets the stage for our work together and helps us tailor my approach to best support you. 2. Assessment: Individual Sessions: I meet with each partner individually to better understand their perspectives, histories, and individual concerns. Relationship Questionnaires: Both partners complete comprehensive questionnaires. These tools help identify specific strengths and areas for improvement in your relationship. Joint Session: We come together for a joint session to discuss the assessment results. This session provides a clear picture of your relationship dynamics and helps us set concrete, achievable goals for therapy. 3. Treatment Plan Based on the assessment, we’ll develop a customized treatment plan. This plan outlines the specific areas we'll focus on and strategies to address your concerns. Creating Fondness and Admiration: Strengthening the positive aspects of your relationship. Managing Conflict: Learning healthy ways to handle disagreements. Building a Shared Meaning: Creating a sense of shared purpose and values. 4. Therapy Sessions: Sessions are typically 50 minutes each and focus on implementing the treatment plan. During these sessions, you’ll improve Communication, Resolve Conflicts, Enhance Intimacy, and Strengthen Connection. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can work through your challenges, build a stronger connection, and develop the tools you need for a healthy, fulfilling relationship. 5. Homework and Practice: Between sessions, I often assign “homework” to reinforce the skills and strategies we discuss in therapy.
