My name is Cristy Carter, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). I work with adults via telehealth and specialize in anxiety, addiction, and trauma. I utilize several treatment methodologies, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focus. My approach I tailor my approach based on the client's needs. Clients have various needs addressed in different ways. I tend to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focus. I have also used Accelerated Resolution Therapy, holding basic certification in this, and may recommend it for in-person sessions. My focus I have extensive experience working with individuals suffering from anxiety, panic, substance use disorders, and trauma. My communication style I have a chameleon-like personality. If a client prefers a professional experience, I follow suit. If a client prefers a laid-back experience, I provide this as well. My journey to mental healthcare I attempted nursing school, but my passion awakened in an abnormal psychology class. It took time to earn my bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University, as I quit and returned several times. Life happened-challenges arose-and my journey found me in a rehab facility. While in treatment, I decided helping others is what I wanted to do. I returned to school for my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have gained several certifications. I have also become a Clinical Program Director and maintain this position. My goals for you I always ask clients their goals. Sometimes it's difficult to identify goals amid chaos, so I use the client's words to help us identify goals together.
