What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to every client is goal-focused, so that we can make sure clients are getting what they want out of our work together. By approaching therapy one milestone at a time, we set ourselves up for success. I am competent in working with LGBTQ+ issues and welcome clients of all backgrounds. My specializations also include working with children/adolescents, as well as adults with disabling physical or mental health conditions. Psychosis (paranoia, psychotic break, schizophrenia, etc), Autism Spectrum Disorder, disabilities, queer populations, transitioning issues, and kids with behavioral issues are populations in which I have the most expertise on.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My main approach is solution focused and cognitive based, but I like to utilize many approaches in my practice, such as mindfulness. I specialize in anxiety disorders and depression with children, adolescents, and adults -- and in emotion regulation disorders with children. I use an interpersonal and cognitive behavioral approach to aid clients in improving interpersonal relationships and gaining skills to cope with and manage distorted thinking patterns. For emotional regulation disorders in children, I use an interpersonal dialectical behavioral approach to aid clients in identifying and expressing their emotions, as well as managing intense and unpleasant emotions. I also specialize in writing HRT (hormone replacement therapy) letters and guiding transgender clients through the name change process for New York State.
