Getting to know Crystal Williams
Hello, my name is Crystal Williams, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) as well as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Illinois. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Chicago State University and have been a practicing clinician for over 13 years.
My approach
My best treatment approaches are a collage of multiple modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), compassion-focused, emotion-focused, psychodynamic, solution-focused, and strength-based therapies. For couples therapy, I use Gottman Theory, the Imago Method, and Emotion-Focused Therapy, to name a few. Services and treatment plans are created for each individualized client.
My focus
I practice clinically with adults seeking individual and/or couples therapy, primarily for short-term therapy. I have worked with clients from diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. I specialize in treating conditions such as anxiety and panic attacks, stress management, relationship issues, parenting and parent/child concerns, self-esteem and self-identity, communication and boundaries, coping skills, LGBTQIA+ issues, grief counseling, and more.
My communication style
I pride myself on being an open-minded and relatable clinician. I want clients to feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, feelings, and ideas, and most importantly, to have a safe space where they feel heard and understood. My goal is to learn about my clients, build rapport, and help them to the best of my ability and expertise to meet their therapy goals.
My journey to therapy
I was fortunate to know my purpose from the age of 11-to become a clinician. I often tell clients that I became what I wanted to be when I grew up, which is a story you don't hear often. I absolutely love my career; it never feels like work. I am motivated every day as I look forward to spending time with my clients, hearing their stories, and celebrating the highlights of their progress through therapy.
