“I was in the process of going through a divorce and needed some guidance and someone to listen to me. Not only did she provide that, but she also asked how I would like to receive therapy as far as if I wanted advice back if I just needed someone to vent to what worked for me and I really appreciate that. She is very thorough and I feel as though she really cares about her patience.”

Getting to know Cutia Brown
Hi there, I'm Cutia!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Kentucky with over 30 years of clinical experience. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. I became a psychotherapist to help people achieve their treatment goals, gain clearer self-understanding, build healthy relationships, and feel better. I have assisted clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, strained communication, grief/loss, trauma, codependency, PTSD, anger, substance use/abuse, and co-occurring disorders. My favorite part of therapy is the “Aha Moment” when both client and therapist have a breakthrough leading to goal achievement.
My approach
Therapy is a partnership. My role is to instill hope and help clients self-determine, self-actualize, and become empowered to make choices that produce wholeness, health, and peace. I use active listening, client-centered, solution-focused, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, strengths-based, trauma-focused, and brief treatment techniques.
My focus
I typically work with adults over 18. I have worked with clients from many socio-economic backgrounds and varying severities of mental health disorders. I treat those wanting to heal from distressing circumstances and also coach those without severe mental illness to achieve their goals.
My communication style
I listen more than I speak. Many clients need a safe place to express themselves. I love holding space, meeting clients where they are, and providing a nonjudgmental atmosphere so they feel empowered to grow. I’ve been told my voice is calm and soothing.
My journey to mental healthcare
All my employment after undergrad has been in social work or social service fields.
