What should a new client know about working with you?

I use primarily an integrative approach in my practice that incorporates the types of therapy listed. I am not certified in any of the types and do not follow only one approach. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and begin discussing therapeutic goals. I recommend you come to your appointments with at least some idea of what you would like to address in session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe you are the expert in your own life and counseling will help you believe in yourself and identify what your strengths are. I usually let you set the agenda for what you want to talk about each session. I use an active approach to counseling in which we will not only be doing talk therapy. I typically give you recommendations of things to do or work on outside of counseling and summarize those things at the end. I am a big fan of journaling and handouts as visual reminders of the concepts and coping skills we have discussed in sessions.
