Getting to know Cynthia Abbott

I provide a supportive and collaborative space where patients feel heard and understood. My focus is on treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. Together, we’ll work to uncover the root of challenges, build on your strengths, and find practical strategies that promote lasting well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on understanding you as a whole person. I believe healing and growth come from creating a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. Together, we’ll explore the root causes of challenges, not just the surface symptoms, so that you can experience real and lasting change. I often blend evidence-based techniques with practical tools you can use in daily life. Sessions may include exploring thoughts, emotions, and patterns, as well as practicing skills to manage stress, improve relationships, and strengthen resilience. You can expect me to: Listen deeply and without judgment Ask thoughtful questions to help uncover insights Offer strategies and feedback tailored to your unique needs Move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you My role is to walk alongside you—not to tell you who to be, but to help you discover your strengths, clarify your goals, and find effective ways forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first visit, I take time to get to know you—your history, current concerns, and goals. This often includes discussing medical background, lifestyle, and emotional well-being so I can form a complete picture. If needed, I may order or review lab work, gather collateral history, or use standardized assessments to guide the diagnostic process. Follow-up sessions typically combine evaluation of how you’re doing with supportive conversation. I practice talk therapy to help patients explore thoughts, feelings, and patterns, while also considering when medication may be an appropriate part of treatment. Together, we’ll review your progress, adjust the plan as needed, and set practical goals to support both your mental health and overall quality of life. My aim is for sessions to feel collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your needs—whether we’re focused on medication management, therapy, or a combination of both.
