Getting to know Cynthia (Cindy) Rozier

About Me I can't wait to get started! My passion is empowering others to do and be their very best. I've faced trauma, divorce, single-parenthood, poverty, and a myriad of other hardships over my lifetime. I've watched my own child struggle to manage her emotions. Life is a perpetual challenge, and I'm accustomed to fighting my own battles as well as helping others through theirs. I have tremendous compassion for the multitude of problems individuals and families face. I have literally felt their pain. I've been working successfully with young people for over 25 years and hold a Master of Science in Human Development, Family Studies, and Related Services from Auburn University, where I was part of their Marriage and Family Therapy Program. I also earned a Master of Social Work degree from Valdosta State University and hold a Georgia license to practice therapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Because no one is at their best during a crisis, I make it a habit to look past all the “crazy” talk, gestures, behaviors, habits, and other idiosyncrasies that often annoy or offend others. I much prefer to focus on meeting people's needs and “don't sweat the small stuff.” I'm blessed to be able to serve others every single day, and I welcome the opportunity to serve you and yours!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have several policies that I'd like to share: 1) While I provide both in-person and video therapy sessions, I have the responsibility to ascertain that telehealth is appropriate to the emotional, developmental, and privacy needs of the Client. For that reason, I do not provide telehealth sessions to children or adolescents under 18 years of age and reserve the prerogative to require in-person visits with adults if their needs or circumstances warrant it. 2) When working with young children, the parent/caregiver needs to be available to participate as needed at every session. 3) Clients under 18-years-old are required to have an adult on-site with authority to make emergency decisions on the minor's behalf (i.e. anything that might require discipline and/or 911 services) for the duration of each appointment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What is therapy with Cindy like? I have extensive training, knowledge, and experience from both a marriage and family therapy and a clinical social work background. This includes exposure to very wide variety of models, theories, and applications to pull from. I use all of it to create an experience specifically for you at each session. I’d describe my style as eclectic whereby I use “whatever works” at any given time. My primary goal is to tailor your therapy experiences to you so they are memorable and applicable to your daily life. After all, if you can’t remember and use the concepts and skills we cover in session, you can’t very well discover what works and what does not work, now can you? Secondly, while therapy by its very nature can’t necessarily be “fun” I do try to make it as interesting and entertaining as possible. Once I get to know you, I will organize our sessions around information and activities that you’re most likely to respond to and learn from. Sometimes that will be mostly talk, other times it may be books, games, worksheets, videos, or other activities that address your therapy goals in a way that you will be most likely to relate to. We are a team. You are the expert on you, and I’m the toolbox with a plethora of ideas to try on until you find what best helps you overcome the challenges you bring to therapy. Therapy is work and we will both have to put in the time and effort, but it will be worth it as you achieve your goals toward the healthy and satisfying future you seek.
