Psychotherapist
2000 N Loop W, Ste 100, Houston, TX
Hello, my name is Cynthia Drew. I am a dedicated Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I graduated from Southern University, and Texas Southern University, earning the Master of Art in Psychology. I trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist with the Houston Galveston Institute. My work as individuals, couples, and families over three decades, continues to provide care that creates an environment to feel heard whether supporting and individual experiencing anxiety, depression, marital conflict, grief, trauma associated with abuse, or post traumatic trauma symptoms. I am a Christian Counselor, capable of supporting an individual’s Christian values when the client desires to do so. My practice focuses on helping clients recognize and overcome life’s obstacles that maintain unhealthy behaviors. Together we examine concerns and develop personalized strategies for lasting transformation. My preferred modality for treatment is integrating Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Family Systems approaches to develop an environment that enhances emotional growth. The work of supporting couples in crisis is special. I view couple’s therapy as supporting the couple’s individual needs while addressing the couple’s concerns that impede healthy patterns of communication and problem solving. I am committed to viewing the therapeutic relationship as is at its strongest when commitment is intentional and I can influence future generations. Grief and loss are experienced when encountering various life’s experiences including divorce, job-loss, or relocating to different areas of the country. The goal, however, is to confront the hurt feeling triggered by the debilitating life’s experience. Addressing grief and hurt is never easy. We accomplish the goal of confronting loss and addressing the journey of recovery together.
