She also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Piedmont University. Dr. Cindy has over 15 years’ experience counseling and 10 years’ experience teaching psychology at the college level. She has advanced training through the Beck Initiative for Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy, for which she holds current certification. She is also certified as a substance abuse counselor through the 7 – Challenges program, which supports clients in making healthy decisions about their drug and alcohol choices. Her current certifications include Motivational Interviewing, CAMS Anger Management, CANS/ANSA, Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk, CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) Suicide Model, Survivors of Suicide support group model, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), Transition to Independent Processing Model, TREM – Trauma Recovery & Empowerment Model, DBT – Dialectic Behavior Therapy through the Linehan Institute, PCOMS (Partners for Change Outcome Management System), animal behavior specialist, animal-assisted therapist, as well as special certifications through the Department of Social Work with the University of Georgia for work with teens. Dr. Cindy has spent the last 15 years fighting stigma related to mental health. She has spoken at numerous conferences including, but not limited to, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) during their 2017 National Conference on Cognitive Therapy in Recovery; the Georgia State Behavioral Health Symposium in 2017 on schizophrenia and current treatment options; as well as several other engagements in 2015 and 2016 for the State of Georgia and Advantage Behavioral Health.
