Cynthia Minto, LPC

Psychotherapist
3600 Hemlock Ave, Colonial Heights, VA
I am a Richmond-based licensed professional counselor with more than 20 years of experience working with individuals and families in community mental health settings and the military. As a proud military retiree, I have a passion for military members and understand their unique culture and stressors. I have worked extensively with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. I am passionate about helping people work through challenging life issues impacted by trauma, marginalization, and lack of autonomy. I have experience with depression, PTSD, anxiety, attachment issues, chronic stress, and ADHD. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling and my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University. I have been trained extensively in Somatic Experiencing (SE), a trauma modality that supports the gentle release of bound trauma in the nervous system. Through body-based interventions, I support and release nervous system patterning to assist in resolving symptoms of trauma. SE is effective for treating chronic stress and pain, anxiety, hypervigilance, depression, ADHD, early attachment problems, and body awareness. I am also skilled in using bottom-up regulation strategies, incorporating expressive arts and play to address issues more responsive to right-brain processes rather than traditional cognitive therapy models. I sincerely believe therapy is a guide to help individuals reach their own healing, and I find great satisfaction in partnering on the journey toward healing and self-discovery.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
