"The provider is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern" I'm Damaris Disla, a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern with a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Albizu University, where I focused on both Mental Health and School Counseling. Originally from New York/New Jersey, I've called South Florida home for the past eight years. I'm fluent in Spanish, which allows me to support clients in the language that feels most comfortable for them. Growing up with Dominican parents taught me early on about the beauty of different cultures and the importance of really understanding where people come from. That appreciation for diversity, combined with my love for traveling, has shaped how I connect with the families and individuals I work with today. For the last eight years, my career has taken me through schools, outpatient clinics and community organizations, where I’ve had the privilege of providing mental and behavioral support to children, adolescents, and families. I’ve worked with people facing learning disabilities, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, behavioral challenges, family conflict and relationship concerns. Each experience has taught me something new about resilience and the different ways people heal and grow. What I’m passionate about is creating a safe and non-judgmental space where my clients feel free to be themselves, truly heard and completely understood. I believe everyone has the potential to evolve into their best selves and my role is to support that journey in whatever way feels right for each person. When I’m not working, you’ll find me lifting weights, running, practicing yoga or meditating – activities that keep me grounded and help me show up fully for my clients. I also love traveling, spending quality time with my son, family and friends, and engaging in mindfulness practices that remind me to stay present in both my personal and professional life.
