Getting to know Damien Boyd
Hi there, I'm Damien!
Hello! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Louisiana and Texas with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Louisiana Tech University. Since 2016, I’ve been dedicated to helping individuals improve their mental health. I specialize in addressing anxiety, self-esteem, depression, life transitions, focus issues, and overcoming challenges. My approach is grounded in changing thought patterns to shift perspectives, and I aim to create a professional yet relaxed environment where clients feel supported. It’s a pleasure to meet you!
My approach
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients approach challenges with a new perspective. By focusing on skills like self-reflection and positive affirmations, I aim to reduce anxiety and depression and support clients in overcoming obstacles, leading to lasting positive change.
My focus
Having personally experienced ADHD and anxiety, I understand how stress can make even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming. I take a laid-back, nonjudgmental approach to create a safe space for clients, making it easier to discuss challenges. My goal is always to listen and truly understand my clients, offering support tailored to their unique experiences.
My communication style
I believe that therapy should be welcoming, comforting, and respectful towards my clients. I practice with clear communication, active listening, and non-judgmental feedback. I do my all to remain unbiased, empathetic, and calm with my clients.
My first session with you
The goal with the first session is to simply get to know each other. This is where we discuss your reasons for coming to therapy, any reservations that you have about the process, and any expectations that you have. It's ok to feel nervous, which is why I also provide reassurance during the first session as well.
