“My therapist is Jackie. I began seeing her for help with anger management, she is very easy to talk to gives great advice and is not judgmental. Besides from helping me with anger issues she also goes out the way to help with other aspects in life such as my relationship, family, self acceptance and development. I would recommend anyone who needs someone to talk to or needs advice to meet with her! ”

Getting to know Damien Jackson

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago who views therapy as a partnership built upon mutual trust. I pride myself on creating a calm, safe, and non-judgmental environment to help clients feel at ease. My goal is to empower each individual toward change. I have experience working with clients of various ages and cultural backgrounds. I help those struggling with depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodiversity, and more. I have over 17 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental/intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. In therapy, I use an array of tools to help guide clients to better mental health, including active listening, genuineness, and empathy. Some treatment modalities I use include psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy. In every case, I tailor my treatment style to meet your individual needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

From the outset, you will be guided through the therapeutic process carefully. The initial sessions will focus on gaining a comprehensive understanding of your circumstances. As we advance and establish specific goals, I will employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and other evidence-based modalities to facilitate your well-being and achieve enduring change. CBT targets the identification and modification of negative thought patterns to enhance emotional health. DBT imparts skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance to manage intense emotions proficiently. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy delves into past experiences and unconscious patterns to promote deeper self-awareness and healing. Through the integration of these approaches, individuals can develop more effective coping mechanisms, improve interpersonal relationships, and attain greater emotional stability.
