What should a new client know about working with you?

You’re functioning on the outside—but internally, something feels off. Maybe it’s constant overthinking, pressure to perform, lack of direction, or a sense that you’re not fully yourself anymore. You may be successful in your career or responsibilities, yet still feel stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about what’s next. I specialize in working with men and high-functioning individuals who want more than just coping strategies—they want clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of purpose. My approach integrates: Existential therapy (identity, purpose, meaning) Humanistic psychology (authenticity, self-awareness) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (practical tools, thought patterns) Motivational and coaching strategies (action and accountability) This allows us to work on two levels: Immediate relief (anxiety, stress, overthinking) Deeper transformation (who you are, what you want, and how you live) Most therapy focuses on symptom reduction. Our work also focuses on direction, identity, and alignment. I primarily work with: Men navigating identity, expectations, and purpose Professionals dealing with burnout, pressure, or major life transitions Individuals struggling with self-doubt, overthinking, or low self-worth Clients who feel stuck despite being capable and driven You might be thinking: “I should have this figured out by now.” “I’m doing well, but it doesn’t feel like enough.” “I don’t know what I actually want.” That’s exactly where we start. Clients choose to work with me because I: Go beyond surface-level conversation Challenge patterns that keep you stuck Help you connect insight to real-world change Provide both depth and structure—not just passive listening My style is engaged, direct, and collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are—but I won’t let you stay there. If you’re ready to stop circling the same patterns and start moving forward with clarity and intention, you can schedule a session today.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work is focused and intentional. We will: Break down patterns driving anxiety and overthinking Clarify your values, goals, and direction Strengthen your sense of identity and self-trust Build practical tools to handle stress and decision-making Create clear, actionable steps between sessions The goal isn’t just insight—it’s movement. My work often focuses on: Anxiety & overthinking Men’s mental health Self-worth & confidence Life transitions & identity Purpose and meaning Burnout & performance pressure General counseling sessions include: • An initial session/intake where we assess what is going on in your life and we jointly set goals and complete a treatment plan. • During the initial and ongoing sessions, we will continue to assess, monitor, identify, explore, and prioritize presenting issues or concerns. • Our partnership will include discussion with regards to expectations, outcomes, and psychotherapy techniques or methods. Appropriate techniques and therapeutic discussion will be utilized to address presenting issues and concerns. • Specific tasks may be assigned outside of the counseling sessions to supplement the counseling process. • Counseling sessions are an open forum to discuss any concerns. • The counseling process will include discharge and aftercare planning once you feel stable or the presenting issues are manageable.

Damon always pushes me to think outside of the box and evaluate situations from different view points. He has helped me maneuver through many difficult situations and well as positive ones. He is extremely patient and listens intently.
Damon has helped me immensely to ground myself in my journey, and reduce my anxiety. A breakup, aging, and a life change had me floundering and stuck in unhelpful ruts and he helped me find my way.
At age 60 it’s hard to find someone to connect with at this level. Damon is that guy. A Veteran and he understands the complexities with my generation. I would recommend him to anyone.
Damon is someone who made it easy to open up to because he is very empathetic, and a great listener. He is appreciative of when you do the work outside of the sessions, which is great positive reinforcement for you to take ownership, and work as a team. It is hard to assess if a therapist will be a good fit for each individual, but his profile “on paper” exceeded my expectations in how he described himself and what his approach and areas of specialty are. I highly recommend meeting with him to see if he’s a good fit for you!
I’ve been a patient of Damon’s for a little over a year now. In that time, Damon’s counseling has helped me to identify many of the flattering lies I had written into the story I told myself about who I am. He also helped me to find the courage to face and process past experiences that I had kept buried for many years. Confronting these truths has been essential in developing a more honest understanding of the self-destructive patterns of thought and behavior that had numbed my experience of life. Through this process, I’ve always known that Damon was on my side and he never made me feel small, foolish, or immoral. Damon helped me to develop the tools I needed to reengage with life, and he helped me to learn how to find the paths that will lead me closer to becoming the person I want to be for the people in my life and for myself. I’ve felt fortunate to have Damon as a therapist, and I highly recommend his services to anyone looking for thoughtful, compassionate guidance.
I would highly recommend Damon - especially to men going through life transitions, who are hesitant to the idea of therapy. Talking to him feels like having a trusted, stoic friend. His calm temperament and thoughtful well-timed insights always create the right environment for valuable self-reflection. I've worked with Damon through a few seasons of life now, and continue to be grateful for how he's able to evolve our conversations to meet me where I am. I believe that working with him allows me to bring my best self to the relationships in my life.
Damon is as professional as they get. He has been a huge part of helping me navigate my path through the trials life presents. He is honest and gives the guidance you need. He challenges you to be better in an honest and constructive way, which I have found immeasurably helpful.
I have been working with Damon for a few years now and have nothing but good things to say. I was in a dark place and he adapted the pace of our conversations and my growth based on the bandwidth that I had available. He uses a number of different approaches and communication style to help you find the tools you need for mental health stability. Damon has also done an excellent job helping my define my virtues and holding myself accountable to them in my daily life. I also appreciate approach to the timeline of care which varies as needed. We dont meet as frequently as initially because he has helped me find my internal strength to stand on my own legs and sort out my crisis. Forever thankful!
I’ve been going to Damon for the past two years and he has been nothing but amazing. Whatever journey my life takes me, I can always rely on Damon to be my support system. He’s extremely caring and wants to see you succeed with your journey. I highly recommend Damon!
Damon is as professional as they get. Expert in getting men back on the right path. Would highly recommend to any man looking for guidance. He is honest and trustworthy.
I have been fortunate to work with Damon for the past few years, and he has been an invaluable resource in strengthening my mental health, confidence, and ability to manage change. Through family loss, job changes, and personal milestones, Damon has been there for me. He is an exceptional practitioner and I would recommend anyone to work with him if you have the opportunity to do so.
