What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a compassionate professional that has extensive experience working in the fields of trauma therapy, grief, and life transitions. I believe each journey to healing is unique to each individual and like to take time with each person I work with to learn about what is important to them. Doing this includes learning about each person's value systems, beliefs, experiences and culture. It's important to me that everyone I work with feels seen, heard and their identity is honored.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

New clients will find the first couple of sessions is an opportunity for them to develop trust and comfort with me as a therapist. We do this through a mutual exchanging of relevant information. I will spend time learning about each person's history, their goals and what their strengths are. Likewise, I will offer my professional experience, history and approach to therapy. Individuals will likely learn early on that as a therapist, I do not pretend to be the expert in my client's lives, but instead, hold expertise and skills that support individuals in healing. I respect each person's choices and needs, and value the path they feel most comfortable taking as they set forth on their journey to healing. I also use a little humor when appropriate...healing can be hard, and sometimes we need to find joy through the pain.
