What should a new client know about working with you?

Gentle, warm, and inviting are the three words which best describe my style during a therapy session. My approach involves continuous relationship building, while supporting and advocating for my clients to best realize their goals and objectives. My specialty centers mostly around the use of Applied Behavior Analysis, assisting with decreasing maladaptive behaviors as well as employing appropriate replacement behaviors. I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, EMDR, and Sensory Psychomotor Therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process for working with clients begins with a 15 minute consultation to ensure goodness of fit between what the client is looking for in terms of a therapist, and how the therapist can best support the client's needs. During the first session, I like begin ongoing rapport building with the client, in addition to learning more about what brought the client to therapy in the first place. For the first couple of sessions, I like to work with the client on setting relevant goals and objectives, while learning more in depth about the client's family of origin. Great importance is placed on continuous collaboration between the client and the therapist. Each client's plan is always individualized and subject to relevant editing and/or modifying, depending on the direction of the client's needs. Overall, holding compassionate space for others is a cornerstone of my practice. Working with empathy, care, and collaboration with clients is my ultimate goal. Life is not a linear path and it is helpful to have a facilitator, guide, and ally along the way. I look forward to connecting with you and learning how I can best meet your needs.
