Psychotherapist
CA
Welcome! I’m Daniel, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor with Zealous Therapy Licensed Clinical Social Worker PC. I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with past experiences, facing unexpected change, or simply feeling stuck, I provide a supportive space to better understand what you're going through and begin moving forward. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 20 years serving the State of California, supporting adults and youth through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Along with my military service during Operation Iraqi Freedom, these experiences shaped my belief that people are not defined by their most difficult moments. Meaningful change is possible when you feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment. My approach is warm, practical, strength-based, and collaborative. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing within a trauma-informed, person-centered framework. Together, we can work on reducing anxiety and stress, processing difficult experiences, strengthening relationships, building confidence, and developing greater emotional resilience. I also work with teens and families experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, behavioral challenges, and difficulties with confidence or self-worth. All sessions are provided through secure telehealth and are accessible to clients throughout California. Daniel practices as an associate clinician under the supervision of Erik J. Erickson, LCSW #108094, and is employed by Zealous Therapy Licensed Clinical Social Worker PC.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first thing to know is that you set the pace. My job isn't to push you somewhere you're not ready to go it's to walk with you, ask the right questions, and help you build on strengths you may not even realize you have. Some sessions will feel productive and structured; others may just be a safe place to breathe and be honest. Both matter. Second, I'm direct, but never judgmental. I've spent more than 20 years working with people in some of the hardest seasons of life, and I've learned that honesty delivered with compassion is what actually helps people grow. You can tell me anything chances are, it won't be something I haven't heard before. Third, therapy with me is practical. We won't just talk about what's wrong; you'll leave sessions with real tools ways to manage anxiety, challenge unhelpful thoughts, communicate better, and handle what the week throws at you. I regularly check in on what's working and what isn't, and we adjust together. Finally, as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, I work under the supervision of a licensed clinician which means you get an added layer of oversight and two professionals invested in your progress. If you're a parent booking for your teen, know that I take building trust with young people seriously; therapy only works when they feel respected, not managed. Starting therapy takes courage. Whenever you're ready, I'm here.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together typically begins with a free brief phone consultation, where you can share what's bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit because fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. From there, our first one to two sessions focus on getting the full picture. I'll take time to understand not just the problem that brought you in, but the whole person behind it your history, your relationships, your strengths, and what you want your life to look like. This isn't an interrogation; it's a conversation, and you're always in control of what you share and when. Next, we build your treatment plan together. We'll identify clear, realistic goals and map out how we'll get there whether that's managing anxiety, working through past trauma, improving family communication, or navigating a major life change. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, but the plan is always shaped around you, not a template. Then the real work begins. Sessions are typically weekly at first, and you can expect a balance of processing and practical skill-building you’ll leave with tools you can actually use between sessions. I check in regularly on progress, and we adjust course as needed. As you gain momentum, we may space sessions out. Finally, we plan the ending from a position of strength. My goal is never to keep you in therapy indefinitely it’s to work myself out of a job. When you've met your goals and feel confident carrying your tools forward, we'll wrap up intentionally, and my door stays open if you ever need a tune-up down the road.
