I’m Daniel Lozoya, a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual therapy in English and Spanish. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD-related challenges, burnout, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and concerns related to identity and self-esteem. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. I strive to create an affirming environment where clients feel respected, understood, and able to discuss difficult experiences without judgment. I am especially committed to serving LGBTQIA+ individuals, culturally diverse communities, helping professionals, and people who may have felt misunderstood in previous healthcare settings. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, exposure and response prevention (ERP), solution-focused therapy, and parts-informed interventions. Treatment is personalized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we will identify what is keeping you stuck, build on your existing strengths, and develop realistic strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm, conversational, structured, and appropriately direct. You will have space to share your story at your own pace, but our sessions will also have a clear purpose. I will help you recognize patterns, understand your emotional and nervous-system responses, and practice skills you can use outside of therapy. I recognize that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or having everything organized. We can slow things down, identify what feels most important, and take the process one manageable step at a time. I value honest collaboration and welcome feedback about what is or is not helping. Therapy may include reflection, skill-building, mindfulness, grounding, examining thoughts and behaviors, and—when clinically appropriate—trauma-focused or exposure-based work. I aim to balance validation with gentle accountability so that you feel supported while continuing to move toward your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, how your concerns affect your daily life, and what you hope will change. We will discuss relevant history, current symptoms, strengths, relationships, coping strategies, and any previous experiences with treatment. We will then develop goals and a treatment plan together. A typical session begins with a brief check-in and an opportunity to identify what feels most important that day. We may explore a recent situation, identify emotional or behavioral patterns, practice a coping or communication skill, or work toward a specific treatment goal. When appropriate, I may provide worksheets, visual tools, or simple practices to reinforce what we discuss. We will regularly review your progress and adjust treatment based on your needs. My goal is for you to leave sessions with greater understanding, a practical next step, and increased confidence in your ability to manage challenges independently.
