Life is a journey that can be both beautiful and frightening. It can feel overwhelming navigating these ups and downs. Adjusting to the changing world while taking care of your mental health is challenging. Unconditional acceptance, compassion, and empathy drive my therapeutic style. Seeing people as complex individuals with unique cultural, spiritual, and psychological facets allows me to see the bigger picture so I can tailor therapy to your specific needs. Feeling comfortable and safe is essential so we can explore and better understand those frightening parts of life. Together, you and I can gain insight in understanding and recognizing the deeper meanings behind your emotions to ultimately understand yourself better. I believe therapy is a collaborate process. I work with my clients through a holistic, humanistic, and person-centered lens. I also consider the past as being influential in affecting our current emotions, our feelings about ourselves, others, and about life. While working with clients to better understand how their past is affecting the present, I am also aware and mindful of the intersection of our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the unhelpful beliefs we tell ourselves. The combination of Psychodynamic, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy) allows us to understand ourselves today while simultaneously understanding our past. When dealing with present issues, the use of coping skills learned from these cognitive theories along with the insights gained into our past can allow my clients to navigate life more comfortably. I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and have experience working with clients that struggle with substance use, clients that are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals with complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and other mood disorders.
