Getting to know Daniela Andrade

Hi and welcome to my private practice. I am Brazilian-American and have lived outside of Brazil for most of my life. My maternal family is originally from Spain and I have worked with Latin Americans in the U.S. throughout my 11 year career as a clinical social worker. Loving my studies in a community college in the U.S. guided me to continue learning all the way to a doctoral program, when I realized my social work goal was not to do research, but to help others in a therapeutic setting. This awareness led me to work in a hospital mental health clinic, addiction center, crisis unit, and with primary care physicians prior to starting my own practice. I enjoy the therapeutic context of sessions and use different types of approaches, often focusing on acceptance, awareness of different parts of self that lead to behaviors, and importance of community, be it of two or several, towards holistic health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

From your first session, you can expect an open-minded person committed to understanding and supporting you, as well as a professional initial and continuous assessments. Your goals will guide the therapeutic process, and my professional assessment will lead to conversations, not to final diagnosis. Finally, the therapeutic modalities used will always be adjusted to your individual goals and needs.
