Danielle Bent, LSW

Psychotherapist
3047 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL
I find human connection to be one of the most powerful catalysts for change, healing, and resilience. This belief inspired me to become a therapist and continues to guide my work today. I have always been drawn to understanding people's stories, experiences, and perspectives, and I value the opportunity to help clients make sense of who they are and how they want to move through the world. Therapy offers a unique space to pause, reflect, and approach yourself with greater curiosity and compassion. I strive to create a warm and authentic environment where clients feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. It is a privilege to walk alongside people as they navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and build lives that feel more meaningful, connected, and aligned with their values.

Getting to know Danielle Bent

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples across a variety of concerns and life experiences. I have specialized training in treating anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and eating disorders, and I enjoy helping clients develop practical tools while gaining a deeper understanding of themselves. I am especially passionate about working with adolescents and emerging adults as they navigate identity development, relationships, academic and career pressures, life transitions, and questions about who they want to become. I also enjoy supporting clients who struggle with self-esteem, self-doubt, and confidence concerns. My goal is to help clients build resilience, strengthen their sense of self, and feel more equipped to navigate life's challenges with confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As a therapist, I lead with both humor and compassion, believing that meaningful change happens within the context of a genuine therapeutic relationship. My approach is direct, supportive, and tailored to each client's unique needs and goals. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable being unapologetically themselves, free from judgment and pressure to have everything figured out. I draw from Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, foundational ERP techniques for OCD, and psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approaches to help clients better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and create lasting change. I often tell clients, "You're driving the car, and I'm sitting in the passenger seat with Google Maps," because I see my role as offering guidance, perspective, and support while recognizing that you are the expert on your own life.. Above all, I want clients to feel heard, understood, and supported as they work toward the changes that matter most to them.
